Greige fabric
Greige fabric (also grey, loomstate or kora) is woven cloth that has come straight off the loom and has had no wet processing. It is not scoured, bleached, dyed or finished. It is the base cloth a mill sells to converters, or the starting point before RFD.
Greige still carries sizing and natural cotton waxes, so it feels stiffer and looks off-white or cream. Weight and width are close to final but shrink a little through processing. Buyers who dye or print in their own market buy greige to control shade and finish locally.
When you order from a mill
Ordering greige is the flexible route: our minimum is 100 m with no per-colour minimum, and production is about two days. You then take it to your own RFD, dye or print.
