Lab dip
A lab dip is a small swatch of your fabric dyed to a target shade and sent for approval before bulk dyeing. It is the reference the dye house then matches the whole lot against, assessed under agreed lighting to control metamerism (a colour looking right under one light and wrong under another).
You supply a standard — a Pantone reference, a physical swatch or a previous production piece — and the dye house submits one to three lab-dip options. You approve one, or comment and ask for a resubmit. Bulk does not start until a lab dip is signed. Turnaround is usually a few days per round.
When you order from a mill
For any dyed order, send the shade standard with your enquiry. We build lab-dip rounds into the quoted lead time and will not run bulk until you have signed one off.
